Today was a good day, the first REALLY good day I've had in a long while. I still have a million tasks to accomplish, but it was just nice to sit in the sun and breathe.

Fandom tasks are all of the archiving sort, I need to keep archiving my fics here and on AO3, I need to do all my back-tagging on Tumblr. Of course I have incomplete fic that I want to write more on, but alas my head space still isn't there. I'd also love to gather some of my favourite fics into a proper rec list that I can refer to in the future, but that's certainly going to take time.

Been oh so very busy, but I'm officially on mid-semester break and taking the time to work on this again :) I've just finished uploading the Fluffember works and came across a little reflection I did that I think fits here:

Prompts Filled in November: 13/30,

Words published: 16978,

Most popular work: Day 20 – Kiss,

Work most proud of: Day 8 – Encounter,

Work struggled with the most: Day 14 – Message,

Most self-indulgent work: Day 9 – Hot Beverage,

Favourite prompt: Day 15 – Hair

I think I still stand by most of that and although not all these fics were brilliant, I still remember the joy I had in creating them <3 I'm a little wistful even, things seems so much simpler that summer and I'd love to recapture some of that feeling!! Enough sentimental rambling though, I'm just happy to have finished adding those fics!! I feel like that's the biggest task and it'll get a little easier from here... maybe :D

Oh and in other news, Tumblr is deteriorating again... issues with bots and Tumblr Live haven't significantly hit me yet but it's coming, I know it, and I don't know if I want to remain when it does...

I began making this site today in direct response to the current DDoS attack on AO3 (Archive of our Own), but I've certainly been thinking about it for a long while. With the rapid growth in media content in the last few years, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic, fandom (and fanfiction in particular) has become virtually mainstream. This is a vast difference to the internet landscape when I first got involved in fandom as a young teenager in 2007, and I can't say I'm all that comfortable with the visibility. But more to the point, growing more mainstream has led to heightened awareness and AO3 has experienced a number of incidents in recent months.

The data scraping and AI training that was revealed to have occurred in 2022 and 2023 was a devastating blow for many writers, including myself, and many of us moved to restrict access to our fics. And now there is this cyberattack, the motivations for which are unclear, but it is simply characteristic of the new internet we live in. And I'm tired of it. I miss static websites run by webmistresses and webmasters, I miss having control over what I see and what I don't, and most of all, I miss the communities that were fostered. I'd like to build something simple and real and mine, and so here I am, brushing up on HTML and CSS skills that I haven't used in nearly fifteen years. Static websites appeal to me as a quiet space with not a lot of traffic, and as a way I can creatively express myself as I become a better coder.

My hope for this site is to create a place to share my work, to link to the other creators in this wonderful fandom, and to have fun. I'd like to learn how to implement a comment system, but for now my coding skills are limited to text only and before I do that I need to remind myelf of how to do images and sidebars and the like!

In any case, however you're finding this website, whether you be a new friend or old, I hope you enjoy your visit.
