Study Sessions 1 - 4: Identify key functions of plants, and provide definitions for these.
Study Sessions 5 - 10: Identify how these functions occur in plants from five different environments (e.g. rainforest, desert, alpine, aquatic, grassland) and note unique adaptations that occur in these regions, with reference to specific environmental factors.
Study Sessions 11 - 15: Choose three NZ plants from a similar habitat and note similarities and differences in their adaptations, then compare to their ecological niche. Tramp to a location containing each plant species and conduct a field study, then complete a report on each species.
Study Sessions 16 - 20: Choose an introduced pest species and research the key adaptations and environmental factors that have allowed it to flourish in NZ.
